5. The Guanghua Community
First-class Faculty
There are 99 full-time faculty members at Guanghua. Among them, 84 have earned doctoral degrees from world renowned universities. Most of the professors have high professional qualifications complemented by consulting experience for companies, enabling them to make contributions to both knowledge development and managerial practice. In addition, the School has invited many Chinese and foreign distinguished scholars and accomplished entrepreneurs to serve as short/long term visiting professors. James Mirrlees, the 1996 Nobel laureate in Economics and internationally renowned statistics scholar Professor George Tiao have been appointed as honorary professors. Professor Charles Lee of Cornell University serves as co-chair of the Department of Accounting. Peking University's rich pool of accumulated knowledge and updated experience in economics and management offers Guanghua students unique learning opportunities with the combination of western advanced management theories and China's real-world business practices.
Outstanding Students
Most of the MBA students at Guanghua School of Management are management professionals from state-owned enterprises, multinational companies as well as the private sector in China and overseas. They are selected from different working and educational backgrounds on a very competitive basis. Students not only learn from the courses they take but also benefit significantly from interacting with their peers and Guanghua alumni networks.
Flexible Curriculum and Diversified Teaching Methods
The MBA curriculum challenges students to think, and to develop innovative and creative ideas. It prizes enthusiasm for learning. Through lectures, assigned reading, classroom discussions, and case studies, students learn to identify and define complex business problems and to propose realistic solutions. They acquire a firm foundation in core management disciplines, upon which they develop their particular interests in specialized areas, such as information systems or international finance. Standardization, internationalization and professionalism are the ultimate goals that will result in a high degree of administrative effectiveness and efficiency. The School is ahead of most Chinese MBA programs in terms of management for admissions, curriculum, student affairs, and career development services.
Diverse Cultural Environment and Enriched Exchange Opportunities
Guanghua collaborates with prestigious business schools to introduce dual degree programs which offer the students the opportunity to study at Peking University for one year and the National University of Singapore, the ESSEC Business School in France, or the Schulich Business School at York University in Canada for another year to get degrees from both schools. The School has developed a number of international exchange relationships with, among others, the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, the Business School of the University of Chicago, Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, Schulich School of Business at York University, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, etc. International scholars, business leaders and senior government officials are regular guest speakers at Guanghua.
