Qiu Ying and The Peach Land and Fairyland

Qiuying(1493-1560) was born in Taicang of Jiangsu. First he worked as a printer, and then learned how to draw from painter Zhou Chen. His pictures are mainly about landscapes, people and maidservants.

The Picture of Peach Land and Fairyland is primarily painted with green colors and depicts an environment that is far beyond the common world. The painting has mountains deeply cascading through the terrain far away. Clouds and fog are floating among the mountaintops, which makes the temples unclear. In a nearby place, there is flowing water, wooden bridges and pines. The artist's flamboyant painting of fairyland unfolds just before our eyes. On the artistic aspect, the painter's drawing is very accurate and precise. The people are the focal point of the painting. The painter uses contrasting techniques to make the subjects striking. It shows Qiu Ying's great artistic prowess on figure and landscape painting.
