BEIJING, Aug. 14 -- A ceremony marking the release of the 5th revision of the Confucius Pedigree will be the main activity of the 2009 China Qufu International Culture Festival.
The Confucius Pedigree is the largest family tree in the world and records over 70 branches of Confucius' descendants. The process of the fifth major revision has just ended. It was started in 1998.
For the first time, female, ethnic and overseas offspring will be added on the list. The updated version includes two million descendants and will be debut at the Confucius Temple in Qufu, Shandong Province, on Sept. 24.
