Hong Kong's food safety authorities announced Wednesday the city suspends processing applications for importing poultry products from Spain with immediate effect
HONG KONG, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's food safety authorities announced Wednesday the city suspends processing applications for importing poultry products from Spain with immediate effect.
The decision was taken following confirmation of a case involving the highly pathogenic avian influenza H7 on a poultry farm in the central Spanish region of Castilla-La Mancha, a spokesman for the Center for Food Safety said, adding his agency is seeking further information about the case from relevant authorities.
Hong Kong imported about 300 tons of frozen poultry and poultry products from Spain from January to July this year.
