Hong Kong stocks Monday fluctuated between 21,730.70 and 21,457.35 before closing at 21, 472.85.

HONG KONG, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong stocks Monday fluctuated between 21,730.70 and 21,457.35 before closing at 21, 472.85.

    The benchmark index lost 150.6 points, or 0.70 percent, to end Monday's session. Turnover shrank to 57.50 billion HK dollars (7. 43 billion U.S. dollars) from Friday's 73.32 billion HK dollars (9. 4 billion U.S. dollars).

    China Enterprises Index went down 196.23 points, or 1.56 percent, to close at 12,418.34 points.

    All four major stock categories lost. The commerce and industry sub-index lost 0.02 percent, the properties dropped 1.35 percent, finance fell 1.08 percent and utilities moved down 0.14 percent.

    Blue-chips closed down in general. Banking giant HSBC Holdings ended 0.27 percent down to close at 90.95 HK dollars. Heavyweight China Mobile, by far the largest mobile carrier in the mainland, rose 0.58 percent to 78.4 HK dollars.

    Local properties also lost. Cheung Kong, the flagship of Hong Kong's richest man Li Ka-shing, went down 0.75 percent to 99.1 HK dollars. SHK Properties fell 1.65 percent to 113.1 HK dollars. Henderson Land dropped 3.11 percent to 49.9 HK dollars.

    Mainland-based commercial lenders closed mixed. Bank of China closed down 3.16 percent to at 4.29 HK dollars. ICBC rose 0.15 percent to 6.49 HK dollars. CCB moved up 0.15 percent to 6.49 HK dollars.

    Chinese insurance shares generally finished lower. China Life went down 1.8 percent 35.45 to HK dollars. Ping An fell 1.59 percent to 64.95 HK dollars. PICC P&C lose 0.17 percent to 5.71 HK dollars.

    As for energy shares, PetroChina fell 0.64 percent to 9.25 HK dollars, off-shore oil producer CNOOC lost 0.74 percent to 10.74 HK dollars, while Sinopec Corp moved down 0.88 percent to 6.79 HK dollars. (7.8 HK dollars = 1 U.S. dollar)
