BEIJING, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- A mainland film with a Taiwan actor playing the role of Chiang Kai-shek for the first time will premiere in late September.
Wu Hsing-kuo, a renowned Taiwan actor, is the first one on the island to take the role in a mainland film.
The film, "Shui Zhu Chen Fu", which roughly means "who is to determine the fate of the country" is a recounting of the history from March 1948 to March 1949, a decisive year for the Communist Party of China and the then ruling Kuomingtang led by Chiang Kai-shek, said Gu Guoqing, president of Huaxia Films on Friday.
The company is a major producer of the film which is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Wu had featured in films like "The Soong Sisters" and "Green Snake".
