TIANJIN, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang has called for greater efforts to enhance domestic geological prospecting to ensure the country's resource reserves and supply.
Chinese government has made ensuring resource supply a major task to maintain a long-term, stable and relatively fast economic development, Li said in a letter to the China Mining Congress and Expo 2009 being held in Tianjin.
He called for promotion of technology innovation to improve the efficiency of resource exploration and utilization and make the mining industry develop in an environment-friendly way.
Li also stressed international exchange and cooperation in mining industry, which could contribute to the world's sustainable development.
The three-day event, which opened Tuesday, attracted more than 3,500 government officials, entrepreneurs and experts from over 50 countries.
