BEIJING, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Dong Yinchu, honorary chairman of the China Zhi Gong Party, died of illness in Shanghai at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a press release.
Dong was a well-known leader of patriotic overseas Chinese, the release said, noting that he was a close friend of the Communist Party of China.
Dong was a vice chairman of the 8th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), chairman of his party's 9th and 10th central committees, and honorary chairman of the party's 11th central committee, it said.
