Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks during his inspection tour to Sichuan Province from Aug. 14 to 18.

A major earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter Scale hit the northwest part of Sichuan on May 12 last year.
When visiting several counties near the earthquake's epicenter, Jia asked local governmental officials to try all out to ensure that all the quake homeless could have their new houses and jobs as soon as possible.
During his visit to the provincial capital Chengdu, Jia urged officials to promote reforms in rural areas to gain experience for other regions.

Jia also went to the plateau region in the province, with an average altitude of 3,400 meters above sea level, where the official visited local Tibetan herdsmen.
Jia asked religious leaders and followers of Tibetan Buddhism to continue their patriotic tradition and maintain the country's unity and solidarity.
