For most of the freshmen, there is nothing more enjoyable than getting free from study and parents. What a long time is it for us to be under the press of the entering a good university. Even after several years, the terrible experiences are still lingering on and on. Just think about the dark days! But it’s past, and we are now in the campus.
The first two or three years are most exciting for most college students. Everything seems new and interesting. We take part in all kinds of actions, indulge in fascinating e-games, enjoy in romantic dating and so on. Until at the last period do we get on to our courses. Then it’s time to think about what we should do next, hunting or a job or going on further study. That’s what we call ordinary campus life.
There exist some exceptions also. For some students who fail in their most important exams to enter satisfied universities, the life in campus might not seem so good. Some of them live in depress, nothing could attract their attention. They get themselves used to be alone, feel no interest with the liveliness around. But that don’t last very long. After several months, they will get rid of those gloomy memories. For other students who are always protected by their parents, college is a good stage to act as themselves. They participate in social actions, open their own shops or restaurants, set up the on line or on internet assistance centre, do some commodity trade and so on. On one hand, they want to prove to others that they are not only mothers’ babies, they are grown-ups. On another hand, they have a deep sight of their future and a superior understanding of the society. They want to practices before getting into the complex society. There are another bulk of students who come from impoverished families. Besides study, they also devote themselves to earning money. They engage in all kinds of part time job, tutoring, serving as waiters or something like that.
Chinese campus life is diversified, everyone have his own living style. But on a whole, most of them are energetic and have considerations for others.
As a whole, education in
Flying development of science and technology worldwide, as well as intensifying competition in economic and technological fields has addressed a tough challenge to education. Those who frontline the education will have a louder saying in the international competition in the 21st century. Chinese government, regarding education as a strategic priority, promulgated the China Agenda for Education Reform and Development, advancing the global object for China's education development by the end of 20th Century, which is read: by year 2000, popularizing K9 compulsory education nationwide, basically eliminating illiteracy among young and middle-aged population, intensively supporting 100 universities and a batch of key subjects (Program 211), giving adequate support toward occupational and polytechnic education and adult education bound for a great prospect.
Realizing such an agenda is an extremely formidable task, which requires countrywide efforts in increasing education funds, improving schooling conditions, boosting teaching competence and strengthening education administration. We have adequate reasons to expect an educational framework compatible with Chinese conditions and oriented to the next millennium.
