The School of Aerospace Engineering in Beijing Institute of Technology originated from a unit with three designated majors including rocket design, rocket propulsion and rocket guidance technology in 1957. It was reconstructed into the department of flight vehicle engineering in 1961. The school had since then witnessed the success of a great number of excellent alumni working in aerospace engineering and defense related fields. In 2008, the School of Aerospace Engineering was rejuvenated with a new mission in educating outstanding professionals and conducting original research in aerospace engineering. The school now consists of four departments, i.e., flight vehicle engineering, flight control, launching and propulsion engineering, and mechanics, plus three research centers including the deep space exploration, distributed system of space flight vehicle, and dynamics and controls for flexible space structures. Enjie Luan, member of Chinese Academy of Science, standing member of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, director of Science and Technology Committee of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (STCCSTIND), is appointed the honorary dean of School of Aerospace Engineering.
7. School of Aeronautics and astronautics in Zhejiang University
School of Aeronautics and Astronautics (SAA) was founded in January 2007. The school is dedicated to develop disciplines of aerospace science and technology, as well as those related subjects such as mechanics. The basic orientation is: to be closely combined to the country’s demands for constructing major projects, to seek in practice the key directions of development, to be an integrated and compact top-ranked research platform for aerospace science and technology; to become an active advocate and participant of the pilot and innovative researches in the field of aerospace, which are of great significant to the nation’s development; to play the important role of major driving force to develop the civil and national defense scientific research.
8. School of Aerospace in Tsinghua University
The School of Aerospace of Tsinghua University was founded in 2004 on the on the basis of the Department of Engineering Mechanics and recruited some faculty members from other departments and universities. The research in mechanics of the school is highly recognized. It is locating the leading edge in the nation and has international reputation. We have very strong faculty members. Many of them are playing active and important roles in academic societies, conference and journal editing. We have received many research awards on the ministry and nation level.

10. The School of Physics and Mechanical & Electrical Engineering in Xiamen University
The Department of Aeronautics of Xiamen University was re-established on 6th April 2008. Yet, as one of the earliest universities housing aviation education in China, Xiamen University began its aviation education in 1944. In 1951, the department merged into Tsinghua University, and then later in 1952 formed the basis of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The department has many distinguished alumni who have had great contributions to aerospace industries in China, such as Qixian Zhang and Yijian Chen, members of Chinese Academy of Engineering and adjunct professors of Xiamen University.
