As the capital of the People's Republic of China, Beijing is located in northern China, close to Tianjin Municipality and partially surrounded by Hebei Province. It has very convenient transportation for you to travel there.
Aeroplane
Travel to and from Beijing by air is very convenient as Beijing has direct air connections to most major cities in the world as well as in China. Besides taking taxi to and from the airport, shuttle bus service is also available for every 30 minutes or 1 hour at a relatively low cost of 16yuan/person.

Train
By taking train, travelers can get to almost all the cities in China from Beijing. There’re 4 railway stations in Beijing. The two major ones are Beijing Railway Station and West Station. Both of these two stations have special counters for foreign travelers. Foreign travelers can book train tickets at hotels, Beijing Railway Station, West Station and ticket agencies.

Subway
Traffic jam has been a major problem of Beijing for some years. Therefore, subway is often the fastest way to get around in downtown area and even some suburban areas. At the moment, there are four subway lines and urban railways in Beijing now.

Taxi
There’re more than 60, 000 taxis in Beijing. The taxi fare is 2.00 yuan/km and starts at 10 Yuan and starts to increase after 4-5 kilometers.

Public Bus & Trolley Bus
Public bus is the cheapest way to get around the city. The bus fare starts at 1 Yuan and increase to several Yuan in most situations. The bus fare starts at 2 Yuan for those with air-conditioning. From 2007, the bus passengers can enjoy a 60%'s discount if they use the IC card which is called 'YiKaTong' in Pinyin for paying the fare.

Bike & Pedicab
Bike rental service is available at larger repair shops, hotels or scenic spots. Pedicab service is relatively expensive and is more suitable for short distance sightseeing. However, seeing the city by bike may bring foreign visitors the opportunities to see the city and the people in a more real way.
