Two Types of Baggage Allowance You Should Know on Flights in China

Going out by plane have become more and more popular, but different countries have different rules for boarding, for example, the size and weight of your baggage. If you are traveling in China, what about the rules on it?
 
There are two types of baggage allowance in China, the checked baggage and the carry-on baggage. For Chinese flights passengers and passengers heading for USA and Canada, the rules will be different.
 
Checked baggage
For domestic passengers, an adult fare or half fare ticket are entitled to a free baggage allowance of 40kg (88 pounds) for first class, and 30kg (66pounds) for business class, while20kg (44 pounds) for economy class. No free baggage allowance is granted to infants. If your baggage is over the limitation, you will need to pay for the excess weight, and some of the airports in China are quite strict with this.
 
For tourists who are leaving China, two pieces of baggage of which the sum of the greatest outside linear dimensions of each does not exceed 62 inches (158cms), and the weight of each does not exceed 70lbs (32kgs) for first class and business class.
 
For economy class and tourist discounted class, two pieces of baggage of which the sum of the greatest outside linear dimensions does not exceed 107 inches (269cms), and the weight of each do not exceed 70lbs (32kgs). Infant who paid 10 percent of the adult fare could bear one baggage provided the sum of the greatest outside linear dimensions does not exceed 45 inches (115cms).
 
Carry-on baggage
For the domestic passengers, the total weight of carry-on baggage for each passenger may not exceed 5kg (11 pounds). First class passengers may carry up to 2 pieces. All other passengers may carry on only one piece. The size may not exceed 20x40x55cm. Carry- on baggage in excess of the limit is subject to an excess baggage fee and must be carried as checked baggage.
 
For tourists who are leaving China, passengers holing adult-fare or half-fare tickets are entitled to bear only one piece of unchecked baggage. The baggage should be suitable for placing under the passenger's seat or in the overhead compartment, and the sum of the greatest outside linear dimensions does not exceed 45 inches (115cms).
 
Note
1. Some articles which can't be shipped as baggage:
(1) Dangerous articles, such as inflammable, explosive, corrosive, poisonous, radioactive, and magnetized material
 
(2) Arms, sharp or lethal weapons
 
(3) Articles forbidden or limited to import or export according to Chinese laws
 
2. Articles which cannot be packed in the checked baggage:
Important documents, classified materials, diplomatic mail bags, negotiable securities, currencies, money orders, valuables, vulnerable perishables and articles and other articles needed in the special custody of somebody.
 
3. Articles which should be put in carry-on baggage:
Knife, scissors, and bottled or tinned alcohol/ wine.
