Founded in 1922, the School of Philosophy in Wuhan University is the most influential one in China; it has cultivated more 5000 talents for the country. The Marxism Department of Hunan University was established in March, 2003 with a staff team of 56 people. 50 out of them are full time. There are 11 professors, 27 associate professors. 75% of the teachers are of high title. 70% of the staff has got master’s or doctor’s degree. During the last 5 years, the teachers have got more than 20 rewards at the provincial and ministerial level. The department only admits the students with master’s degree. This tradition can be traced back to the late 1980s. So far, there are 2 doctor stations on Principles of Marxism Study and Ideological and Political Education.
