Ecology is a growing program in Chinese universities. So far, there are not so many universities that have separated this program as an individual and complete one. The Ecology program in the following five universities is developing more rapidly compared with others.
There is a large increse in the number of applications for studying Ecology in China over the past few years. However, there are not so many universities that have offered this program as an individual or complete school. But the universities list below are developing more rapidly compared with others.
The School of Life Sciences, NNU has a national laboratory-Laboratory of Grassland Ecology Engineering. Currently, it has a faculty of 102 members, among whom 33 are entitled the full professorship, 28 are associate professors and 10 are lecturers. Over the past 5 years, the School faculty members have undertaken 208 research programs from various sectors, with a total research grant of approximately 100 million yuan. Meanwhile, the School has published a total of 737 research articles in academic journals, of which 142 are Scientific Citation Indexed (SCI).
School of Resources and Environment of Lanzhou University has 6 National Bases for the Training of Researching and Teaching personnel for Fundamental Disciplines and has a key lab for Grassland Ecology. At present, there are 126 teachers, including 91 full-time teachers, 22 professors, 26 association professors, 17 doctoral tutors. There are 3 academicians of the Chinese academy of science.
The School of Life Sciences, Fudan University includes 39 Professors, 47 Associate Professors and 13 Research Faculties, among which two are members of Chinese Academy of Sciences, 7 Endowed Professors sponsored by Ministry of Education and Fudan University, and 37 Ph.D. Tutors. It has Ph.D. / M.S. program of Ecology and MOE Key Laboratory Ecology Engineering. It also hosts a National Key Training Program of Ecology.
The School of Life Science of Southeast University has the key laboratory of Ministry of Education in Ecological Environment of Three Gorges Dam Region. It boasts of 80 faculties, among whom 17 are professors and researchers, 19 are associate professors and associate researchers, 20 have obtained doctor’s degrees and 19 have obtained master’s degrees.
Forestry Institute of Beijing Forestry University has 77 teachers, including 24 professors, 28 associate professors and among them 28 persons are doctorate tutors. The program of Ecology has been honored with Ministry level discipline. Since 1952, it has been granted several state-level, provincial-level and ministry-level advancement awards, and it has got many patents rights and achievement transfers.
