Ink on silk
Paintings done on the silk, damask or silk products are called silk scroll, and even there are so many ancient paintings and inscriptions which can be easily bitten by insects and buckled, they are easier to be kept. The silk scroll seem to be rare but with less white back ground color than the paper, and the preparation for it is so much that it cannot be popular.
 
Ink on paper
Chinese crafts paper can generally be divided into two types, one is the sheng xuan paper vulnerable to water, which is not vulnerable to water when added the alum water-called the shu xuan paper.
 
Wall painting
The ancients drawn the wall paintings on the graves, caves, the temple walls and in the court etc, and they even exist till today, treated as the national treasure.
 
Folding fan
The ancients used more the thinly fans for easy carrying, while now people are more tend to use the big fans for indoor decoration, which is more practical than the ancient people.
 
Yuen fan
The yuen fans were shaped as round or elliptical of small dimensions, they also included the silk scroll and paper scroll. In the ancient courts, big fans or zhang fan were used and they were even higher than the people, but now they can never be used or seem.
 
Ceramic
There are calligraphy and paintings also on the vase, cup, dish and mirror etc with different colors and tanning process but the same painting principle and appreciation.
 
Vessel
Besides the ceramic, the painting and calligraphy can also be seem on the calendar, lampshade, snuff pot and even the tie and clothes in the modern times for decoration, enjoying a unique popularity, for example, it is very popular in the west to have the Chinese painting and calligraphy on the Christmas cards.
