Rice, a Director at business advisory firm Equiteq, explained to the audience at the event held by the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) how they could transform their websites from lifeless "online brochures" to interactive portals that pull in business.
He said that by ensuring website content was lively and customer focused, offered valuable industry news and insight, they would soon possess sites that would bring clients and targets back again and again.
The event also covered the key reasons why most consulting company websites fail, the methods for attracting qualified visitors, and how to reach the top of the influential Google search engine.
One member of the audience said: "The presentation was packed full of useful advice for online marketing. Consulting is a hard thing to market, its relatively intangible, you can't touch or feel it, and many websites tend to lapse into jargon or 'consultants speak'. Tony shared some excellent tips for making our sites more user friendly, the language and techniques we should use to appeal to people, and how we can 'press the right buttons' emotionally to let people know we can solve their business problems. I'll certainly be putting some of his advice to the test when I get back to the office."
Joy Hewgill, Marketing Director of the MCA said: "Tony offered lots of practical tips for building a more interactive website, and a list of quick and easy things that people can do to make a difference straight away. Our members found the session extremely useful."
