China Merchants Bank
As the first commercial bank in China with its legal entity exclusively held by the corporations, CMB was founded in Shenzhen Special Economic Zone on April 1987. Within 20 years’ development, CMB has transformed itself from a regional bank to a nationwide commercial bank. As of the end of November, CMB has set up more than 500 branches in 40 cities. It has established correspondent relations with over 1100 banks globally. Although CMB accounts for only 4‰ of the total employees and 2‰ of the overall networks of China’s banking system, the Bank posts an asset of 1.6% and profit of 6% in the whole banking industry in China, which has clearly shown it outpaces over its peers. China CITIC Bank is the first emerging national commercial bank established since China’s reform and opening up policy and is also the first bank to launch a dual-listing on the Shanghai and Hong Kong Stock Exchanges.
