When people are talking about being fit and exercising, the market and society have already being cashing in on this two concepts. But what are these two words all about anyway? What is fitness? What is exercise? And why are these good for the body?
What is Fitness
Generally, fitness is the term to describe the actual condition of the body from your physical state to your emotional and even spiritual state. It is basically your ability to perform your tasks vigorously and alertly and still have enough energy to have fun and meet emergencies.
In terms pf physical fitness, this involves the ability of your heart, lungs and other muscles of the body to perform well under prolonged periods of time with gradually increasing intensity.
Fitness levels vary from person to person and are influenced by factors such as age, gender, genes, as well as existing habits exercise and dietary practices.
Exercise Defined
Exercise is basically any physical activity that gets you moving and raises your heart rate. It can be as simple as dancing, running or walking, and can be as “complex” as a game of lacrosse or working out on massive and complicated exercise machines.
Exercise or additional physical activity helps to reduce the sugar in your blood stream, and keeps blood pressure and cholesterol levels in check. Through exercise, your risk of contracting heart diseases is reduced. It also aids in relieving stress and helps strengthen your muscles and bones. If you’re trying to either lose weight or keep your weight down, fad diets is not the way to go. The key to successful weight loss is a sensible diet and exercise.
