Due to influence of various aspects, the development of commercial college is gradually apt to two extremes. When choosing a Chinese business school, therefore, one has to consider factors seriously.
In recent years, the strength of commercial colleges of all schools and universities in China has been increasing, attracting the attention of more and more foreign people. However, due to influence of various aspects, the development of commercial college is gradually apt to two extremes. When choosing a Chinese business school, therefore, one has to consider factors seriously.
Obvious Extremes
According to a list of “the Most Valuable Chinese Business Schools” from the Chinese version of Furbes, business schools of the traditional universities as Zhongou, International Bimba of Beijing University, and commercial colleges of Fudan, Economy and Management of Tshinghua University still take the first places in the list. The general position of the Chinese business schools is still unchanged.
The serious phenomenon of extremes is turning up in the Chinese MBA education market. According to investigation, reward of 2003 graduates from investment of choosing business school is fairly brilliant. It takes 2.7 year in average to take back investment for full-day MBA graduates; four years after graduation from business school, yearly salary of these students reaches to 233 thousand RMB, 3.9 times that of graduation. The yearly salary increases 24.7 percent after graduation.
The investigation also shows that, MBA students from many other Chinese business schools do not have any obvious change in salary reward after graduation. Even 4 years later after graduation, they can still not take back their investment in commercial college learning.
High reward is an important factor that deepens the extremes of business schools in China.
The Future of Low-end Business School
Fees and tuitions of school is increasing while employment in difficulty. This is the biggest problem encountered by Chinese MBA education, and business schools at second and third place find hard to continue their education. At a time, doubts about how long these business schools can last come from all walks of life.
Yang Zhuang, the American director of International MBA of Peking University, however, thinks that the future of Chinese business schools will also go into the track of America’s, which is, commercial colleges of high, medium and low grade will co-exist for a long time, while the gap between the two extremes is expanding.
