Salary for Your Work
1. Direct pay
Foreign teachers in China are paid by RMB and you should pay the income tax in China when your salary is over RMB 4000 per month. Generally speaking, the monthly salary is different according to the foreign teachers’ working experience and education level. The following is the detailed data only for your references with your employer.
a. A bachelor’s degree with more than 2-year work experience is paid around more than 3000-4000 RMB per month.
b. A master’s degree with more than 3-year work experience is paid around more than 4000-6000 RMB per month.
c. A doctor’s degree with more than 5-year work experience is paid around more than 5000-10000 RMB per month.
2. Indirect Pay
The following is only used for you reference, for detailed pay, you should negotiate with your employer. Generally, your employer may offer you the house equipped with furniture, bedroom stuff, telephone, TV, refrigerator, washing room, heating and cooling installation.
Moreover, your employer may give medical treatment at public expense if you go to the appointed hospitals. However, charges including registration, traffic, dental crowns, plastic surgery, keeping fit massage, prescription filling, dinning in the hospital, non-medical treatment invigorant and fees for doctor’s going out for your treatment from the hospital are to be paid by yourself.
Some employers may provide pick-up and drop-off services or the traffic subsidy if you are living far from the working place.
Some employers may provide you round international tickets for free and fees for your luggage, but you need to negotiate with your employer for the various conditions.
Working Hours and Vocation
Generally, a foreign teacher may work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. You will be paid higher than standard working time if you are giving the longer working hours.
You may enjoy the following Chinese vocations: New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Labor’s Day, National Day, etc.
You may follow your own nationality and religion and enjoy the following vocations: 2 days for Christmas day, 3 days for Eid-Al –Adha, 1 day for EID in Riyadh and 1 day for Water-Splashing Day.
You can enjoy the annual paid leave, but conditions vary according to different employers.
Sick Leave and Leave of Absence
Firstly, you have to show the prescription by the doctor in the appointed hospital by your employer if you want to ask for sick leave. During one term of your contract period, you had better have the leave day no more than 30 days, or else the contract will be dissolute between you and your employer, or you may just get 70% of the standard salary.
Secondly, you have to get the permission from your company if you want to ask for leave of absence and that day’s salary will be off, and you will get 3 day’s salary off if you leave without company’s permission, treated as truancy. When the condition is too serious, you will face the dissolution of the contract and breaching of the faith. During one period of the contract, your leaving day of absence should be no more than 10 days and continuous leaving days for one time should be no more than 3 days, 2 days’ salary will be off if you are leaving one more day.
