Yesterday, the "Foreign Students Sports in China---Sunshine Sports Culture Journey" in Hubei was held. 13 sports teams made up by foreign students from 48 countries competed in Orienteering, 3 VS 3 basketball competitions and so on. The top five teams will be qualified to take part in the Jiuzhou competition even national finals

The competition was held in Huazhong Agricultural University. The competition was said to be foreign students’ brand events jointly held by Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China, Federation of University Sports of China, and CCTV sports channel，it is aimed at provide foreign students with stage to experience Chinese culture, demonstrate image of health and activeness and promote the exchange between Chinese and foreign students. The competition have primary competition, Jiuzhou competition and final completion three stages and the main events contains Orienteering, 3 VS 3 basketball competition, body-form demonstration, national tradition programmes, talents and skills show and so on. 13 teams from Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University of Technology, China University of Geosciences and so on took part in the contest in Hubei province.

Officials from Ministry Department of Hubei province introduced that there are nearly 120 thousand foreign students in Hubei province, becoming national 9th. Those foreign students are from worldwide 161 countries and areas, the countries of whom the number of foreign students rank at top 5 are Pakistan, India, Vietnam, Korea, America, the most “hot” majors that foreign students study are Liberal arts, medicine and science.

It is said that Central China Normal University breaks new record this year with number of 2,435 foreign students, becoming a university of largest number of foreign students in Hubei province, Wuhan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology have number of 2,300 and 2,200 respective, falling closely behind Huazhong Normal University
