September 28th is the birthday of Confucius. The worship ceremony was held on this day in Liuzhou Guangxi by local people and foreign friends. There were about 20 international students who study in Liuzhou attended the worship ceremony. With the sincerest hearts they read aloud the Analects of Confucius together.
9:28 in the morning, after the emcee’s loud shout, the gate of Liuzhou Confucius Temple was gradually open. Hearing student reciting Analects, people who took part in the ceremonies looked solemn and respectful with mourning belt on their head, walking into the Confucius Temple, and then the Ceremony of Confucius started. The brawny in ancient costume carried tribute to the altar. After then, the mourning music was played; the dancers were in classical Chinese clothing, dancing trippingly. In the melodious and charming ancient Chinese music, people experienced thousand year’s ancient time, got close to Confucius shining thought and felt the charming of traditional
Chinese culture
Because this was on the weekend, there were a lot of parents with children participated the worship ceremony. A local woman named Huang thought it’s a very significant activity to teach people respect teachers and honor truth. She also said it’s very important to make children absorb more traditional culture and spend less time playing computer or cellphone.
The worship ceremony highlighted Confucianism culture. The content was extended further including music, songs, dance and manner, which shows the high integration of artistic form and political content. Meanwhile the worship ceremony explained the true meaning of the Confucianism culture is benevolence.
On the worship ceremony, some international students said they have never joined this kind of activity before so they felt very excited about it. “I didn’t know the Temple of Confucius. Through today’s activity I have a deeper understanding about China traditional culture and I really decided to learn Chinese well.” an international student named Fujinjin said so.
