29 November 2012, the famous Erhu player Guo Gan and his group, invited by Confucius Institute of Paris Ouest Nanterre La Defense University, have brought a Chinese-French poem concert named "the other season" to the French and Chinese audiences in the theatre hall of university.

29 November 2012, the famous Erhu player Guo Gan and his group, invited by Confucius Institute of Paris Ouest Nanterre La Defense University, have brought a Chinese-French poem concert named "the other season" to the French and Chinese audiences in the theatre hall of university. Near one hundred of people, like the staff and the students of university, those of Jeanne d’Arc High School, those of Confucius Institute, and those who are interestd in Chinese cultures has enjoyed the concert.

 

This poem concert is one of the most important activities which aim to popularize the Chinese culture overseas through various performances. By providing the novel cultural experience this time, the Confucius Institution used an elaborate art performing technique to attract the French public attention.

 

After the brief speech given by the vice-president, Holl, of Paris Ouest University and the representative of Confucius Institution, Madame Han Shuyan, the concert began with a round of applause. The Chinese folk music instrument Erhu has inosculated with the foreign instruments violin and clarinet. The poems of two languages french and chinese, with the background of post-modernist images, reflected the intersection of French and Chinese cultures. The audience has indulged themselves in the performance of one hour.

 

Aimed to provide the audience more profound understandings of the Chinese culture, the Confucius Institution of Paris West has prepared meticulously a Chinese buffet dinner. In a warm and casual atmosphere, the French and Chinese audiences have had more communications. Some Chinese-learning students tried to speak Chinese, and even used body language to communicate with the Chinese. They thought that it is a great opportunity to experience the Chinese culture personally and make Chinese friends in this occasion.
