AT-China visit Chongqing University for Exchanges and Cooperation

In the afternoon of 4^th January, 2015, the delegation led by Mr. Jinping Zhou, CEO of AT-China paid a visit to Chongqing University for exchange and cooperating programs on International students’ recruitment. The delegation extended their thanks for the dean of International school, Mr. Chengping Zhao and the Vice Dean Jing Li’s warm reception and hospitality.

 Chongqing University, one of China's major comprehensive universities, is affiliated to the Ministry of the Education and renowned for its long history. Chongqing University is located in Chongqing--one of the four municipalities in China and the economic core belt on the upper Yangtze River and occupies key position in the development of the West Regions.

The Dean Zhao gave a brief account of characteristics of Chongqing University. Chongqing University has more than 1500 International students on campus currently and is expecting to enroll to 2500 in total within next few years. Majoring in engineering, Chongqing University has abundant English-medium course settings for mater and doctor degree including architectural engineering, electrical engineering, communication engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, business management, law and so on. With large amount and various kinds of scholarships setting for International students such as Chinese Government Scholarship, Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship, Chongqing university President scholarship and so on, about 96% of International students in Chongqing University are content with the colorful campus life here, besides, Chongqing University also earns the reputation of the first list of demonstration base for International students education in 2014.

The CEO of AT-China expressed his opinion and suggest for the improvement of current International students enrollment situation in Chongqing University, his conclusion and ideas of enrollment for universities were well-received and appreciated by the attendants. The main purpose of this visit for AT-China is to explore the market for International students in West China to positive response national “develop-the-west strategy”. During the meeting, both parties reached an agreement on the development of master degree programs and the overseas cooperation programs.

Besides, Mr. Zhao, the Dean of International School and Chairman of Chongqing Association for International Education mentioned that the number of International students in Chongqing University covers more than 30% of the total number in Chongqing, reaching the number of about 6000, he also expressed his wish of promoting and supporting for the prospect of a 10 thousand person-time of International students scale within the next 5 years by Education Committee of Chongqing.

Both parties achieved initial intent of cooperation via this visit. AT-China will take the programs discussed into the work system as the key recommendation programs to arouse wide attention among International students through online and offline strategies. Pretty soon, both parties will work on the details of a deeper cooperation for the common goal of joint recruitment in Chongqing region and contribute both shares for the International education as the positive response of national “develop-the-west strategy”.
