On March 29th, Amman TAG Confucius Institute officially started Chinese Classes in Amman Bishop School, one of the oldest and most respected schools in Amman, Jordan.

Amman Bishop School was established in 1936. It was one the oldest schools ever established in Jordan, and the alma mater of the late king ?usayn bin ?alā. The school was administered by the Ministry Education and was composed of Bishop School for boys, for girls and Bishop High School. Besides the regular national curriculum, the school also provides specialized international learning modules.

The TAG Confucius manager Mr. Mustafa and Chinese Dean Mr. Zhang Chengyu went several times to communicate with the school master and reached an agreement on a non-profit basis to launch Chinese classes in the boys school. On March 22nd, the Confucius staff came to the school to give a preparatory and introductory lecture on Chinese language and culture. About 100 students gathered excitedly in the school hall, listening intently to Mr. Zhang Daqiang, TAG-Confucius teacher, and eagerly raising hands to share their own knowledge about China and Chinese culture.

After getting very positive responses from the school authority and parents after the lecture, Amman TAG Confucius Institute officially started the first Chinese class in the school, with a registered body of 29 students.

After the launching of the first Chinese class in the school for boys, the headmasters from the girls school and the high school both contacted the TAG Confucius Institute and expressed their willingness to start Chinese classes in their schools. The administrative body of the TAG Confucius Institute believes that in the near future, more local schools will approach and will be approached and more Chinese classes will be started for the purpose of a better communication and exchange of both Chinese and Jordanian languages and cultures.
