With the mission of being “An Economic Forum Dedicated to Formulating the Best Practical Solutions”, the Asian Economic Panel 2013 was successfully held in University College Dublin. Hosted by UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland, The conference ran from September 2nd to September 3rd, gathering over 20 presenters and participants from Finland, Germany, the UK, Japan, China, USA, Sweden, Australia, Korea, France and Ireland.
Professor Liming Wang, Director of the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland, kicked off the proceedings with his welcome address. Brenda Halligan, Chairman of the Institute of International and European Affairs, delivered the opening address and sent out her sincere wishes.
The conference included eight sessions, with each session composed of the presentation of the paper, comments from two participants, and a round of open discussion. During the two-day conference, experts and scholars exchanged their ideas on the big issues in the Asian economy today. Their discussions and exchanges on these fundamental and critical themes created a very passionate atmosphere.
The Asian Economic Panel 2013 was jointly sponsored by the Earth Institute, Columbia University in New York, Keio University in Tokyo, the Korean Institute for International Economic Policy in Seoul, University of California, Davis, and the Association for Chinese Studies in Ireland.
