The Chinese Embassy in Romania and the Confucius Institute at the Babes-Bolyai University organized the third edition of the Charming China Contest. Between August 1st and September 22nd, over 1000 contestants have participated in the competition, by answering the 20 questions about Chinese culture and civilization.

306 contestants answered all of the questions correctly, and entered the raffle for a chance to win a trip to China, an LCD TV, two cell phones and many other awards. The raffle took place in the presence of 6 Romania participants in the competition on September 24th, and 354 winners have been selected. 1 for the trip to China, 1 for the LCD TV, 2 for the mobile phones, 50 for the wood screens with traditional Chinese painting, and 300 for the hand-made traditional Chinese knots. The winner of the big prize, Ms. Taban Ioana Mirina, is a Master student from Tirgu-Mures, and she will have the opportunity to visit China.
The awarding ceremony for the winners of the Charming China Contest took place on September 27th, with the occasion of the anniversary of 63 years since the proclamation of the People’s Republic of China, held in the Chinese Embassy in Bucharest. The Chinese Embassy hosted a reception attended by around 600 people and 10 media , including Romanian Prime Minister, Victor Ponta, former Romanian President Ion Iliescu, President of the Chamber of Deputies Valeriu Zgonea, ministers from culture, transportation, finance and different ministries . The Chinese Ambassador to Romania, Her Ecellency Ms. Huo Yuzhen awarded Ms. Taban Ioana Mirina with the Trip to China, and the first prize. To Simona Elisabeth with the LCD TV. The Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute in Babes-Bolyai University, Ms. Feng Shaozhong, awarded the 2nd prize, the mobile phones, to Mr. Boroiu George, and Ms. Stoica Giorgiana Dorinela.
The 3rd edition of the Charming China Contest was a success, as it enlarged the influences of Confucius Institute in Romania and it offered the Romanian public to find out more information about the Chinese Culture and Civilization.
