ULAN BATOR, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- A children's camp opened Thursday at the Mongolian Chinese Friendship School here to highlight the fundamentals of the Chinese culture.
The "Chinese Culture Park - Ulan Bator camp", sponsored by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of China's State Council, and undertaken by its Henan Province branch, drew more than 500 local students wearing yellow T-shirts with printed words "Chinese Culture Park".
According to Wang Zijie, deputy director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Henan Province, the theme of the camp was "Five Ones": learning one song, one dance, one punch, one painting and one piece of handcraft.
It would play a positive role in disseminating the Chinese language and culture and promoting friendship between China and Mongolia, Wang said.
Wang Fukang, charge d'affaires of the Chinese embassy here, hoped the camp would teach the Mongolian students about the extensiveness and profoundness of the Chinese culture, and improve their Chinese language skills.
Since 1999, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office has actively promoted overseas Chinese youth summer camps, based on which the "Chinese Culture Park" activities were introduced in 2011.
