On Feb. 27th, the first large Elective Fair opened in the gym at Coppell Middle School-West. Chinese language and culture courses organized by HE Jing, the Volunteer Chinese teacher who is from China Three Gorges University, were showed in the Fair.

The Elective Fair began at 6:30pm and ended in 9:00pm. The students in Grades Five, Six and Seven and their parents crowded in the gym at Coppell Middle School-West and all the teachers tried their best to attract the students and their parents to select their open courses by effective introduction with the help of the display boards and posters. Chinese and Chinese culture courses were opened in this school after the Confucius Classroom was set up in 2010. Now more and more students are interested in these two courses. This academic year, 69 students have selected these two courses. The patient and detailed introduction by HE Jing, the modest and gentle Chinese teacher, and the display board with the students’ achievements attracted a lot of students and their parents. With the addition of the brand effect from the Confucius Classroom, it is evident that more students will select courses of Chinese language and culture to study next academic year.
