Chinese, Russian presidents meet on bilateral ties

Visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev held talks in Moscow Wednesday to discuss further development of the Sino-Russian strategic partnership of cooperation.

    Chinese foreign ministry officials said earlier that Hu and Russian leaders will exchange views on how to further develop the Sino-Russian strategic partnership of cooperation, and discuss major international and regional issues of common concern.

    In Moscow, President Hu is also expected to attend activities marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia.

    Earlier in the day, President Hu met with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

    In recent years, bilateral ties have maintained a momentum of rapid and sound development with frequent high-level exchanges, increasing mutual political trust and firm support to each other in terms of their core interest.

    The two-way trade volume reached a record high of 56.83 billion U.S. dollars last year.

Chinese president arrives in Moscow for state visit

    MOSCOW, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in Moscow Tuesday night for a state visit aimed at enhancing the Sino-Russian strategic partnership of cooperation.

    The Chinese president flew into the Russian capital from Yekaterinburg, where he attended a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and a meeting of BRIC countries, namely Brazil, Russia, India and China.   Full story 

Russian-Chinese trade, economic forum opens in Moscow

   MOSCOW, June 16 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese delegation of more than 300 representatives from some 200 enterprises attended the Russian-Chinese forum on trade and economic cooperation that opened here on Tuesday.

    Jiang Yaoping, Deputy Chinese Commerce Minister, said at the opening ceremony that the trade and economic cooperation between China and Russia has maintained healthy development in recent years thanks to the efforts of the leaders and entrepreneurs from both sides. Full story
