Mid- Autumn Festival is one of Chinese traditional festivals. It also symbolizes family reunion. Every year at this time, Chinese people living abroad feel the most homesick. At 5:30pm on September 28 2012 Chinese students who study in Troy University, Chinese scholars and Americans and international students who are interested in Chinese culture took part in the party. The total number of attendees is about 200 people.

This celebration is partly sponsored by Confucius Institute at Troy University (CIT) and organized by Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) and Confucius Institute at Troy University. Professor Xiaofeng Chen, Deputy Director of Confucius Institute at Troy University addressed short speech and she thanked CSSA for their preparation work for the party and introduced Confucius Institute at Troy University. Meanwhile, she stressed CIT’s willingness to help people who are in need and wishes everyone present healthy and happy.

Chinese songs and dances brought many rounds of applauses and games such as guessing words brought the party to its climax. Every one present tasted moon cake, the food most Chinese people eat on Mid-autumn Festival.

This Mid-autumn Festival is not only a happy party for Chinese students and scholars in Troy University which relieves their homesickness, but it also is a good opportunity for Americans and other international students experience traditional Chinese culture. This plays very important and positive role in increasing variety of international cultures in Troy University but also in contributing to culture variety in Alabama State.
