December 9, 2012 - Confucius Institute at Free International University of Moldova held a Chinese Corner Activity on topic “Introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine”. The event was attended by teachers and students of the Confucius Institute as well as by people who have interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Confucius Institute invited Doctor Wang Lei – who has a very rich experience in this domain and is currently working at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Center in Moldova – to lead the discussion of the event, and Miss Elena to interpret the presentation. Doctor Wang offered a detailed description about different aspects of the traditional Chinese medicine, including the yin-yang theory, the five elements, meridians, acupuncture, moxibustion, massage, pulse diagnosis, tongue diagnosis and so one. Doctor Wang cited relevant case analyses where he explained how people can adapt to natural conditions and thus enhance their health. A warm atmosphere prevailed throughout the event site. The audience addressed many questions, which shows they were very interested in traditional Chinese medicine.
Moldovan people show special interest in Chinese medicine. There have been a number of doctors to study in China and follow internship programs so far. In June 24, 2011, within the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Moldova, a grand opening ceremony of the first Traditional Chinese Medicine Center in Moldova was held. The opening ceremony was attended by such honorable guests as the Moldovan Prime-minister Mr. Vlad Filat, Minister of Healthcare in Moldova, Mr. Andrei Usatyi, and the Chinese Ambassador to Moldova, Mr. Fang Li. The opening ceremony was then attended by a total number of 200 people, and was given much attention from mass media. Confucius Institute always had a strong belief in the importance of traditional Chinese Medicine in the promotion of Chinese Culture in Moldova, and hopes that the Chinese Corner event mentioned above will help Moldovan people acquire a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the traditional Chinese medicine.
