From December 7th to 9th, residents of Columbia South Carolina had a great time in downtown Adventure Museum
From December 7th to 9th, residents of Columbia South Carolina had a great time in downtown Adventure Museum. People joined and experienced Chinese culture in activities which were organized by Confucius Institute of University of South Carolina, Chinese Association and East Point Chinese Immersion School. The activity was held by Columbia Adventure Museum inviting Confucius Institute of University of South Carolina, Chinese Association and East Point Chinese Immersion School as the representatives of China. All the Chinese shows received approvals from the public.
The activity on the first was a performance organized by East Point Chinese Immersion School. Students from different grades in this school sang Chinese songs, the Volunteer Chinese teachers from Confucius Institute of University of South Carolina performed Erhu fiddle and practiced Taiji. The performance was excellent.
The second day was organized by Chinese Association. They prepared drangon dance, paper-cutting and Chinese calligraphy. The members of Chinese Association in calligraphy show wrote the Chinese name of the visitors. All the residents were attracted by this activity and they lined up for their Chinese name. Drangon dance was the best that stood out among the performances of different nations for its excellent performers as well as the happy music and won the praise of all the audience.
The third day was organized by Confucius Institute of University of South Carolina. They brought traditional Chinese activities such as diabolo and shuttlecock. The most popular part is the panda puppet acted by Chinese voluntary teacher. People lined up to take pictures with him. In addition, Confucius Institute of University of South Carolina prepared a lot of gifts from China which aroused interests of all the visitors. The highlight of the performance included giving Chinese name, making hat of Chinese zodiac and teaching Chinese with pointing machine. The stuff of Confucius Institute of University of South Carolina patiently answered the questions of the visitors and introduced the traditional Chinese culture. Many people thought these activities opened a door for them to know more about China.
The whole activity not only offered a better understanding of Chinese culture but also strengthened the friendship between China and the United States. All the visitors especially the kids were absorbed in this grant cultural feast.
