On September 24, 2012, Confucius Institute of the Free International University of Moldova held the grand opening of Chinese language courses in Berezovschi Middle School, the biggest Middle School in Moldova. The event was attended by the principal of Berezovshi Middle School, Mr. Valentin, the Chinese Director of Confucius Institute of the Free International University in Moldova, the Director of Foreign Department, and Chinese teachers, as well as by more than 80 students enrolled in the Chinese language courses program.

Chinese Director of Confucius Institute of the Free International University in Moldova, Mrs. Zhao Huangai, presented an overview of the Institute, and then, on behalf of the Institute donated 710 Chinese text-books to Berezovschi Middle School. The principal of the school expressed a warm welcome to the opening of Chinese Department within their school, and hopes that more and more students would sign up for the program. He also hopes that the school will have a long-term cooperation with Confucius Institute of the Free International University of Moldova. At the event, a cooperation agreement between parties was signed, as well as teaching materials were donated to the school by Confucius Institute of the Free International University of Moldova. At the end of the ceremony students performed a traditional folk dance ‘Moldovan Hora’, and sang traditional Moldovan songs, thus expressing their regards to Confucius Institute of the Free International University of Moldova.

It is reported that Berezovschi Middle School is the biggest Middle School in Moldova, with a total number of more than 2,000 students. Berezovschi Middle School is the second Chinese Language Courses Center set up by Confucius Institute of the Free International University of Moldova. Up to now, Confucius Institute of the Free International University of Moldova has more than 180 students, and two other Chinese teaching centers will soon be commenced.
