Confucius' hometown to hold foreign masterpieces exhibition

More than 350 works by foreign art masters, including Leonardo Da Vinci and Pablo Picasso, will make their debut in east China's Shandong Province, Confucius' birthplace, in October.

As a main attraction to the 10th China Art Festival which is scheduled to kick off here on Oct. 11, the exhibition is expected to enlighten the offspring of the oriental philosopher on Western fine art through a rare collection of paintings, sculptures and ceramics.

The show will be held from Oct. 9 to 20 at the Shangdong Provincial Museum in Jinan, according to the organizers of the art festival, a biennial national gala for artists.

Among all the oil paintings of the Renaissance, a self-portrait by Leonardo Da Vinci might be an eye-catcher as this is its debut in China.

The show's modern and contemporary works include those by Salvador Dali, Edgar Degas, Mimmo Paladino and Gigino Falconi.

Picasso's works, including 14 etching paintings and 19 pieces of ceramics, are also highlights of the exhibition.
