China is considering whether to halve the minimum term for foreign workers' residence permits. The draft law, which was proposed on Tuesday, will be reviewed later this week.
It's proposed that the minimum permit for foreigners working in China be reduced from the current 180 days to 90 days. The maximum term will remain at 5 years.
The government says the changes will better suit foreign workers taking temporary jobs lasting less than 6 months. A new category of "talent visa" is also proposed, designed to attract more foreign professionals.
