Organized by the Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine (CITCM) at London South Bank University, the Exhibition featured past, present and future of Traditional Chinese Medicine has successfully launched atthe Wellcome Collection in London on 22nd October 2012. This exhibition is supported by the British Acupuncture Council, China Academy of Chinese Medicine Sciences and Beijing Tong Ren Tang.Nearly 60 people joined the launch.
Dignitaries including Councillor Althea Smith, Mayor of Southwark; Councillor Heather Johnson, Mayor of Camden; Mr. Xu Jingli, Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy; Mr Feng Zhi, Third Secrectary from the Education Section, Chinese embassy; Mr. David Longbottom, Chair of the Board of Governors at London South Bank University; Mr Gao Dianmin, Director from London Bureau Xinhua News Agency participated in the Launch.
Councillor Heather Johnson-the Mayor of Camden commented interesting pictures and real objects of Chinese medicine could enable the public to understand the developing history of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Meanwhile, she mentioned the communication between western and Chinese medicine should be promoted.
CITCM hopes to strengthen people’s understanding of the history of TCM through this exhibition. It will be on a world tour to the Confucius Institutes in United States, Australia, France, Italy, China etc. It is estimated that100,000 people will participate in the Exhibition.
Mr. David Longbottom, Chair of the Board of Governors at London South Bank University praised CITCM for its efforts in promoting British people’s understandingof China and Chinese culture. Mr. Nick Phal, CEO of the British Acupuncture Council, commented TCM is an important part of Chinese culture, and the British public will come into contact with more Chinese cultures in the future.
