Back in July last year parts of the residence were dismantled. Since then, the cultural heritage protection office, some scholars, volunteers and media paid great attention to protection work. As a result the residence will now be kept.

In November of last year, 7 volunteers from Beijing Cultural Heritage Protection Center applied to Beijing Cultural Heritage Bureau and State Cultural Heritage Bureau to suggest they confirm Liang and Lin's former residence as "immovable cultural heritage" according to relevant official rules.

Recently, the state bureau made a decision to ask Beijing Cultural Heritage Bureau to confirm Liang and Lin's former residences' status as immovable and under the protection of cultural heritage protection laws.
