59-year-old Tanzanian Svay Moses can speak fluent Chinese as the result of practicing speaking Chinese every day since 9 years ago.
Svay is the vice president of the textile company, which is offered funds by Tanzania and China and located in Dar es Salaam.
In daily work, Svay always make contact with all kinds of people from different culture and countries. He said,“It is not easy to do this.”
Svay said frankly, “Fortunately, I have study for master’s degree in Shanghai, China for three years. In that time, I studied how to deal with the problem of joint-venture companies.”
Svay won the trust from his colleagues. He not only taught his colleagues Chinese and but also invited them to play in his house. When the Spring Festival is coming, Svay will hold Celebration Activities for his colleagues. His Chinese colleagues also speak highly of him.
In 1985, it is the first time for him to come to China. At that time, he awarded the scholarship from China and Tanzanian and studied Chinese in Beijing for two years. When recalled the recent two decades, he praised the great changes of China.
Lately, he saw the overseas students play acrobatics when he visited the Perking University. He said, “It has made great changes. And it was not easy for foreign students to live in China in those years. Few Chinese can speak English, no one wants to communicate with us and we should eat in solo canteen.”
Emanuel Moses, Svay’s son, is 27 years old now, and he studied in China in 2008 with the suggestion of his father. He entered into CRI (China Radio International) as the Swahili announcer.
“I love this job, because it makes me know more about China. I have been to many places in China for all kinds of interesting interviews in those years.” Emanuel said.
Svay also said, “My little son is going to study in China. It is the right choice for you to study in China.”
