The Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine (CITCM), based at London South Bank University (LSBU), and the Confucius Institute at the University of Pittsburgh (CI-PITT) have jointly organized a Chinese wellness road show to run from 4th Nov to 11th Nov in the United States.

On behalf of the CITCM Mr Ian Appleyard, course director of the BSc (Hons) Acupuncture programme at LSBU, has so far delivered lectures at the School of Pharmacy at the University of Pittsburgh, St Vincent College, and the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford Campus. The lectures were very well attended by students and staff from the universities as well as members of the public.

Depending on the background of the audience, Mr Ian Appleyard delivered one of two presentations, either “Traditional Chinese Medicine Theories and Modern Science in Acupuncture Research” or “A Brief History of Chinese Medicine”. The lectures were warmly received and generated considerable interest to know more about Chinese medicine. The audience raised a variety of questions related to the history and development of Chinese medicine; the practice of acupuncture in the UK, courses on Chinese medicine at London South Bank University and the challenges of conducting research into acupuncture.

Mr Ian Appleyard will give a talk at the China Institute in New York on 10th Nov ember 2012.
