December 8th, 2012, the local Chinese teachers from the northwest of England gathered at Upton Hall school for Chinese teaching and teaching materials training. This event was organized by the Institute of Education, University of London Confucius Institute (IOE Confucius Institute). Ms Xiaoming Zhu, the person in charge of the IOE Confucius Institute, declared the meeting beginning and gave the warm welcoming. She made a speech about evaluating and selecting appropriate teaching resources. IOE Confucius Institute also offered a lot of different Chinese textbooks from Hanban (Office of Chinese Language Council International). The teachers discussed how to choose the teaching materials from different textbooks. The teachers felt clearer about different versions of textbooks. Three expertise from different Confucius Classrooms attend the meeting and made the special reports those were made by the combination of practice and theory. Because these speeches came from their Chinese teaching and studying, so they were helpful and the teachers were enjoyed them. The meeting had supported by IOE Confucius Institute Chinese Dean, Miss Xiuqin Liu and the Line Manager of the Confucius Institute Classroom in Upton Hall school, Ms. Zhou Hu. The meeting was from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Agenda was very wonderful. Combining the expertise and experience of teachers, trainers and authors of popular textbooks, the events was focus on the effective use of course books and provided participants with guidance on classroom teaching of Chinese language and culture to school-age students. Every local teachers were happy and rewarding experience.
