March 1 saw the opening of the exhibition titled “China up close – a multimedia journey” of the Confucius Institute Nuremberg-Erlangen in Paul-Pfinzig Middle School in neighboring village Hersbruck. This is the first time the traveling exhibition makes station there. Since the school held the first of two information days for the students to tell them about Chinese as an additional secondary foreign language, the exhibition should answer some of the many questions the students have about China.

After Principal Fleischer’s introduction, Supervising tutor Weiss told the girls and boys what to expect from a curriculum containing Chinese. Mr. Zhang from Shenzhen’s Europe Office in Nuremberg talked about his organization and showed a short video clip about Shenzhen. Then Mrs. Lutz from the Confucius Institute talked about the institute’s commitment to the metropolitan area of Nuremberg and Mrs. Thiel explained that Chinese is not as difficult as everybody had heared.

The last hour, the kids had time to split up in groups and experience taijiquan, calligraphy and the multimedia touchscreens which many enjoyed very much.
