Professors of Nanchang University Participate in the Lectures on Chinese Culture at the Pusat Bahasa Mandarin at Hasanuddin University

Makassar, May 24th - Professor Wang Debao, Director of the School of Humanities, Nanchang University, Professor Zhang Fanglin, Dean of the Department of History, Professor Zhou Pingyuan from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, and Professor Yang Xuecheng from the Department of Philosophy gave wonderful lectures on Chinese culture in the hall of Faculty of Humanities at Hasanuddin University by invitation.

 

Thanks to well preparations and promotions made by the Pusat Bahasa Mandarin at Hasanuddin University, more than 300 people attended lectures, including Burhan, Director of the Faculty of Humanities at Hasanuddin University and all Deputy Directors as well as teachers and students of the faculty. The hall was packed, and the atmosphere was lively and friendly.

 

After Professor Burhan and Zhu Xiaojun, Chinese Director of the Pusat Bahasa Mandarin at Hasanuddin University, delivered speeches and extended warm welcome to the professors coming from afar, Professor Zhou Pingyuan, Professor Wang Debao, Professor Yang Xuecheng and Professor Zhang Fanglin talked about the profoundness and how thought-provoking Chinese cultures can be, including the concept of Confucian Liberal Arts Education, Jingdezhen and chinaware, and Zen Thought and calligraphy respectively. Professor Yang Xuecheng also showed his excellent calligraphy skills by writing “知行合一 (Knowledge and action are one)” for the Confucius Institute as a gift.

 


During the lectures, teachers and students of Hasanuddin University also raised questions they were interested in, and professors from Nanchang University answered the questions with profundity and an easy-to-understand approach, allowing good interaction between them.

 


After the lectures, representatives of Hasanuddin University and Nanchang University all hoped that the Confucius Institute would launch more cultural exchange events of this kind in the future so as to strengthen the mutual understanding between Chinese and Indonesian people and promote friendly exchanges between China and Indonesia.
