SINGAPORE, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's Nanyang Technological University and Temasek Foundation will launch a new training program for senior officials from Vietnam later this month, a local television channel reported Thursday.

The new program, organized in collaboration with the Vietnamese authorities, will be an expansion on the basis of an existing executive training program, Channel NewsAsia said.

The university and Vietnam's Monitoring Office of Program 165, signed a memorandum of understanding on the collaboration in Hanoi on Thursday, it reported.

The office is a leading institution in Vietnam that is responsible for the training of government leaders and senior officials, with a focus on political science and governance issues.

The program will be funded by the Temasek Foundation and the government of Vietnam.

The first batch of officials to train under the program include 25 female officials from the women's union. They will be in Singapore for the two-week training program focusing on leadership and public policy conducted by the Nanyang Center for Public Administration, a unit of the university that has been known for its training programs for Chinese officials.
