COLOMBO, April 5 (Xinhua) -- The Sri Lankan government has decided to boost cultural ties with China, a Sri Lankan official said on Thursday.
Government media spokesman Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena told journalists at a media briefing that a proposal was made by Sri Lanka's Minister of Culture and the Arts T. B. Ekanayake to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of China, to further strengthen the friendly relationship between the two countries.
This proposal was approved by the cabinet and it was also agreed to open a Chinese Cultural Center in Sri Lanka, Abeywardena said.
