Most foreign students have various kind of confusions and misgivings when they considering studying in China, especially how to choose right courses and universities. Since most of them haven’t been in China before, they know little about China. What’s more, they normally get the knowledge of China on line. The mixed and complicated information online makes the choice more difficult. It seems that every university in China they know is the best choice. Base on this situation and my own experiences in helping students get the admission of China University, I did some research on how to choose right courses and universities in the field of engineering. I hope it can be helpful to those students who want to study in China and their parents who care about their kids’ application.
Once one decides to study in China, the first thing is to choose suitable course and then the universities in this filed. Most universities offer courses related engineering. Students should first decide the course and then the universities under consideration of other factors.
1.Considering the interests and advantages
A student from Uganda likes technological products, such as phones and MP4. He told me that he will create various kinds of software and apply them into those products. So, the software engineering is suitable for him. Only if you are interested in your major, can you try your best to study what you learn.
2. Making career planning
There is a twin of my students. Their parents do aquaculture business. Their country is lack of food and many children are starving. She told me that she want to feed many fish so that the children can enjoy high-nutrition fish. Therefore, they can help their father with the business if they study aquaculture technology in China. So, I recommended the fish breeding. Currently, they are studying in Ningbo University. They told me that their dormitory is beautiful and comfortable on the third day in the university. They felt happy they can help their father and those poor kids.
3.Consulting professional application center
Some students think the application agencies are not reliable and don’t want to take the risk. I fully understand them. Indeed, one student told me that he have applied through other agencies but got no answer. This results in reasonable reject when I analyze the courses and universities for him. He was unwilling to tell me the key information about his application, which delayed his application for a long time. Later on, I called him several times, talked a lot and figured out his unhappy experience. Then, I showed him some admission letters and phone numbers of my students. The universities are suitable for majors of engineering
1. Computer professional
The computer is applied the most in the field of engineering; so many universities have this major taught in English. The universities I always recommend to my students are Xidian University, Northwestern Polytechnic University, Hunan University, Zhejiang university of Science and Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
Admission requirements: Your grades must be excellent and need to provide none criminal certificate if you apply Xidian University. But it is not very strict for students to apply the Northwestern Polytechnic University. One important point of grade will be very helpful for applying scholarship. Huazhong University of Science and Technology is very outstanding in the field of engineering with strong comprehensive strength and single major. It ranks in the top of the all universities in china; therefore, it is very strict about grades. But, the Huazhong University of Science and Technology more focus on the comprehensive ability of students. The grade is just one point of reference. If you have practice experience and other something related to major you apply, you can write it down which can add rate of you getting admission letter.
2. Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineering is applied a lot as well. Ningbo University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Shenyang Jianzhu University and Beijing Institute of Technology are favored by many students.
Admission requirement: Ningbo university is very strict about grade, if your grade is very good, I recommend you apply this university ,if your grade is not very well .you can apply this university as well then choose other 2 or 3 universities at the same time so as to increase the chance of you getting admission letter. The tuition fee of Shenyang Jianzhu University and Beijing University are expensive. If you have evidence of founds, it will be helpful for your application
3. Petroleum Engineering
A lot of students from Saudi Arabia will choose this major, because there is much petroleum in their country. Most students are wondering to find a good job after they finish their study in china. About petroleum, it is a good choice. However, petroleum engineering, the university which need provide petroleum base and provide the major taught in English is a few. The Xi'an Shiyou University, China University of Petroleum; Liaoning University of Petroleum & Chemical Technology offer the major, especially the Xi'an Shiyou University which is located in a city where is the biggest petroleum base in china. It is great chance for students to learn petroleum by themselves through visiting the petroleum base.
Admission requirement: Xi’an Shiyou University is not very strict about grade, but they are favor in students who have better practice ability. If there is possible, you can write a self-recommend letter to teacher and show your ability at the best so that your admission rate will increase higher. China University of Petroleum should prepare none criminal record certificate in advance. Liaoning University of Petroleum & Chemical Technology is paying more attention on students’ behavior in school and your previous grades are not a big deal. So you need to be good in school. If you often skip class you would be in risking on dropping out of school.
