At 7:35 pm, July 23—the final match of Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students Opened. 30 excellent contestants stood out in 3 quarter-finals competed in the first round of the final and decided the ultimate 12 contestants.
In the past two days, the 30 contestants of the final were divided into 5 groups for cultural experience. They were respectively arranged to experience Chinese culture in Changsha Qingshuitang Antique Street and the kiln fabrication site in Changsha, the recording scene of the invincible ugly, Yuelu Academy, Fire palace and Chinese traditional wedding.
In the final match, the contestants were asked to give a role play or speech in connection with their own experience. The judges give a mark according to the contestants’ performances. The contestant who gains the highest score in his group will be promoted directly. The other contestants will be ranked according to the grade. The top 10 ranking contestants will accept the votes of the audiences. And 7 contestants who gain the most votes will gain promotion qualifications. They will enter into the next round with the 5 contestants who got promotions directly.
The applied language institute, ministry of education’ director Yaoxishuang, the host of CCTV international channel, the announcer Xuli, national first-grade actor, the central drama institute’s professor Baoguoan, young actor Guodonglin， Hunan university, school of journalism and communication’s associate professor Meiwenhui will work as the judges of this competition.
The six contestants of the first group gave a performance named “bargain sale”. They took turns to take out their “treasure” and instigate the other contestants to buy it in a high price. Some sold the patrimonial pendant watch, some sold the sport shoes which Yaoming have worn, and some sold the blue and white porcelain. Finally, depending on the touching love story, the New Zealand contestant Malbec who sold the “love guitar” moved the judges and got the promotion successfully.
The second group’s contestants were deeply influenced by the teleplay group of invincible ugly. They acted as ancient people on the stage. Weili from Hungarian acted as Huamulan and said to the audiences:” A woman would lie too”. Australian contestant Maixiangming acted as Baogong and addressed himself as modern fashion man. The blue-eyed and golden-haired girl Haofei acted as Bainiangzi and danced happily. The subversion of Bainiangzi helped her gain the favor of the judges and went on to the next round successfully.

The third group contestants’ experience place is Yuelu Academy which has the title “institution of higher learning with a thousand years history”. The Korean contestant Liunaen introduced Guilin by singing folk song; Gelisha from Russia played allegro while saying that Luoyang is a good place, good place. Finally, Japanese contestant Yanqiyuan break out successfully.
The contestants of the fourth group have glutted themselves with delicacies in
Fire Palace, unexpectedly, they set up a stall to sell pork lungs in chili sauce, goubuli baozi, doner kebab, stick of sugar-coated haws, crossing-over bridge rice noodles and smelly bean curd.
The last group’s contestants are especially particular. They have experienced Chinese traditional wedding themselves. In the VCR, the American contestant Liran, who acted as mother-in-law, has gained lots of applause and laughter. Of course, some contestants’ performance on the stage also kept eyes polished. After the fierce competition, American contestant Liran got the last promotion position.
Thus, the top 12 contestants of the first final match came into being. In the following week’s time, they will be divided into groups and come to experience the life in 6 Chinese families.
