On October 29, the Symposium on Chinese Language Teaching in South Korea and the 12th Session of the Association of Professors of China in South Korea was held in Daejin University.120 people including staffs from Confucius Institutes across South Korea, the representatives of the Association of Professors of China in South Korea and some distinguished guests were present at the conference.

This symposium, held for the second time in South Korea, is an annual event sponsored by Confucius Institute at Daejin University and the Association of Professors of China in South Korea, which also got strong support from the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy in South Korea. Counsellor An Yuxiang personally attended the conference and delivered an important speech. On behalf of the sponsor, Professor Qian Jing, the president of the Association of Professors of China in South Korea, Kim Hyeongki, Dean of Confucius Institute at Daejin University made a welcome speech at the opening ceremony. The conference was co-chaired by Professor Jin Jiangxi, the dean of Confucius Institute at Daejin University of the Chinese side, and Ms Cui Xuanxi, staff of Confucius Institute at Daejin University.

Two famous professors (Professor Fu Gang, from Peking University, Professor Chen Lizhong, from Nanjing University), were specially invited to address at the conference. They made an excellent speech respectively with the theme of Study on Researchers of Ancient Chinese Literature’s Research and Study on the Chinese Words in Korean Language. Their brilliant expositions called forth extensive discussions and produced a favorable response among participants.
That afternoon, all participants took part in group discussions and made presentations, which were all around these three subjects: studies of Chinese language, research on teaching methods and teaching materials, studies of literature and culture. During group discussions, Professor Li Dasui, from Peking University, currently in Ewha Womans University, put forward his professional opinion in the thesis the Attempt of Adding Chinese Characters in the Intensive Reading of Chinese, Professor Zhou Cuiying, the dean of Confucius Institute at Daebul University, had a discussion on Grammar Teaching in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. Wang Geng, a professor of Sungyunkwan University, made a speech on Teaching Experience of Cultivation of Korean Students’ Accounting Management, which received a warm welcome. Sun Qilin, a professor of Northeast Normal University, currently the dean of Confucius Institute at University of East Asia, discussed the Intercommunication in Teaching Chinese and Korean as a Second language, with the combination of theory and examples, making a lively and relaxed atmosphere. Duan Wenhan, a professor of Nankai University, currently in Halla University, interpreted the Chinese examination types in the paper the Analysis of the Fitness of Intermediate and Advanced Chinese Examination Types .These heated group discussions, ranging from research on Chinese linguistics, teaching method, literature, to culture, were carried on under the conduction of hosts. During the discussion, all the experienced professors unselfishly shared their valuable experience with young teachers, who benefited a lot.
Fifty-five papers were presented at the seminar, and the excellent ones will appear in the Proceedings of Symposium on Study and Teaching of the Chinese Language, made by the Association of Professors of China in Korea.
That afternoon, there was a brief closing ceremony at the Hall of Daejin University, where Jin Jiangxi and Qian Jing presided at the meeting and summarized the results of this conference. Meanwhile they appreciated all the participants for their efforts of writing papers and actively taking part in the discussion. The conference was finished in a cordial and friendly atmosphere, followed by a reception dinner.
