On September 26th, the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy held a welcome reception in Beijing, inviting the British students who are studying in Beijing at present and the students of the "Generation UK" project who had been funded by the British Council scholarship to study in China.
"Generation UK" project was launched by the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy in the recent days, aiming at encouraging and supporting the British students to study in China. In the three years from now to 2016, the project plans to help at least 15000 British students come to China to study, work or do the internship. From the beginning of this year, the project will issue the scholarship for the British students who will come to study in each institution of higher learning of the Chinese mainland.
The British ambassador to China Wu Sitian said the project let more British young people deepen their understanding about China. At the same time, it was also a model to enhance the contact and exchanges between the people of the two countries, which would lay a good foundation for the two countries to establish the closer long-term relation.
The project wins the support of the British Department for Business, Innovation and Skills as well as Northern Ireland's Department of Employment and Learning.
